HOW THE PROCESS WORKS: APEX has anonymized the information below due to the competitive nature of the solicitations and proposal environment. If you find an interest, please contact Michael Bianco using the input form below. Include the APEX assigned number or list of numbers to which you want to be introduced. The table columns designate whether the organization seeking a partner is a company or a university and the kind of organization sought for a partnership. The table also includes a technology description of what the advertising organization brings to the table (technology brought) and what the advertising organization seeks in a partner (technology sought) as well as the technical competencies of the desired partner. Once you respond with the APEX assigned number(s) you are interested in meeting, we will review the request with the researcher seeking a partner and get their approval to release additional information to both parties and connect the two of you to explore a collaboration. Once we connect parties, we leave it up to you to discuss if interests, objectives, and capabilities are aligned.

103 Small Business Both small business and/or research institute We’ve developed a circuit generator that takes a NN model of any popular framework and converts it into a low powered parallel pipeline circuit. The circuit comes in the form of a bit stream ready to be instantiated on an FPGA. However, the resulting circuit is not an instruction processor. That is, it will not execute instructions (in the classic von Neumann sense). It does not use RAM and is not burdened by shared resources or overhead as processors are. Instead, every node, layer and weight has a dedicated set of gates in the circuit--it puts the whole algorithm (as is) in the circuit. As a result, we are seeing power reductions of 90% over a conventional GPU. As such the circuit is as computationally efficient as physics will allow. Regardless of the complexity of the model, the parallel pipeline circuit ingests data at the frame rate of the sensor. Research has shown capability of 480fps for HD video. We are seeking companies and/or research institutions that develop AI/ML algorithms and desire to improve frame rate, lower power and reduce latency. We would like to team with organizations who have expertise in one or more of the following: EO/IR object detection and tracking, cognitive EW, neural network defined radios, and/or optics and sensing. AI/ML, Control Systems, Data Analytics, Machine Design, Microelectronic design, Night Vision, Position/Navigation and Timing, Robotics, Sense and Avoid Air Force, Space Force, Army, Navy, DoD Other (DARPA, DLA, USSOCOM, etc.), Non-DoD (Dept. of Energy, NASA, NSF, etc.)
84 Research Institute Small Business We specialize in space robotics focusing on contact dynamics, system dynamics, and GNC areas. We have developed the six state-of-the-art technologies for space robotic systems as follows: (1) contact dynamics modeling and simulation of complex robotic operations such as docking, capturing and ORU replacing; (2) simultaneous measurement of contact-dynamics model parameters (contact stiffness, damping, and friction) from ground-based hardware tests; (3) AI enhanced sensing or experimental data processing; (4) decentralized control for a distributed multi-spacecraft/robot team to achieve a team goal with physical and safety constraints; (5) optimal control of a robotic arm for safe and minimum-disturbance capture in orbit; (6) Reinforcement learning based adaptive control of robotic operation without the need of path planning. We have completed the theoretical development of these new methods and published the results in high-impact journals and conferences. Now we are seeking opportunities to raise TRL level of these methods by conducting lab-based experimental testing either at university or industry. We also seek opportunities to transit the technologies into space systems for possible flight testing and integrated into commercial space products. We are looking for industrial partners who are experienced with developing spacecraft and/or robotic systems or solutions (hardware or software) and need any one of the above-mentioned six key technology areas to enable or enhance their products or future services. We already have our own lab facilities (e.g., planar and spherical air-bearing test rigs, indoor GPS, robotic arms and vehicles, etc.) but we are seeking industrial design/test/flight expertise to strengthen our experimental research and technology transition.
